Intergenerational Month

Prologue to our devotionals on 1 Peter

We have ventured through the book of Philippians during the first half of this month. Now, we move on to 1 Peter and seek to become the "living hope" that Peter describes. 1 Peter 1:3 says that a Christian believer has his or her faith in God and that means that there is always hope of how God is active and working out his plan in and through us. We have hope, because we can be confident that all things are working together for our good.

1 Peter was written about 63 AD. Peter had entered Rome to minister about the time Paul was released from his first imprisonment. He was sent, especially, to minister to the Jews. Peter's given name was "Simon". Jesus named him Peter, which means "a stone". God was building his church using Simon Peter just like a foundational rock. We find hope knowing that if God can use this fisherman with all of his frailties, then God can use us in significant ways.

We are all signficant to God and we have hope in Jesus Christ! Enjoy this study with your families over the 2nd half of July!
