Families/Individuals with no young children, please follow this devotional by Kelly Fairbanks:
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
I always find it kind of comical when I see medical staff walk around the hospital or office with a pompous attitude thinking they are the greatest and most intelligent individual. When we walk around life, do we do the same thing? Do we think we are better than the homeless person on the side of the highway? Do we think we are better than the lady who got herself pregnant before getting married? If we do, then God help us. We need to remember that no one is over anyone. As a church, we need to only boast in having Christ in our lives (1 Corinthians 1:31). We are all the same in God's eyes and it should be that way in the community of believers as well. Remember, pride comes before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). If you don't want to faceplant right into the ground keep your eyes up towards Your heavenly Father and be in the same likeness as He. Who gave Himself up for us, putting OUR LIVES OVER HIS earthly life on earth.
Ask Yourself: "How can I help those around me know that I care for them deeply?" OR "Lord, show me how to show those around me how to care for them deeply."
