Families/Individuals with no young children, please follow this devotional by Susan Icenhour:
Jesus Christ is the One who came with water and with blood. He did not come by water only. He came by both water and blood. And the Spirit says that this is true. The Spirit is the truth. So there are three witnesses: the Spirit, the water, and the blood. These three witnesses agree. We believe people when they say something is true. But what God says is more important. And he has told us the truth about his own Son. Anyone who believes in the Son of God has the truth that God told us. Anyone who does not believe makes God a liar. He does not believe what God told us about his Son. This is what God told us: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life. But the person who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:6-12 ICB
In this passage John is reminding the church that God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ. He didn't provide only one witness, but three. In Biblical times for something to be verified as truth, you needed at least two witnesses. In I John God provides us with three.
When someone tells us something so we choose to believe them? In this passage God is reminding us of the gift He is giving us, eternal life with him. It is our choice wether or not we accept this promise.
So often we get busy with our day to day life that it's easy to forget to see how God is working.
How does it make you feel to know that all you have to do to receive the gift of eternal life is to simply accept God's promise?
