Families/Individuals with no young children, please follow this devotional by Pastor Russ Fairbanks:

1 Peter 5:6-11

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 [d]But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your [e]brethren who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.11 To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.

One of the greatest blessings I have in life is that I grew up under the influence and ministries of my dad, Larry, and my uncle, LeBron. The major theme of both of their lives was living out the concept of grace.

I can't say that I've mastered it, but I am greatly influenced by the idea that, as Christ's ambassadors and servants, we are to be people of grace - "whatever happens" (Phil. 1:27).

I've watched many who change their temper and actions based on what or whom they are facing at a particular moment. Also, I've watched people throw away good character because they feel suffering is unfair. Peter instructs us that suffering is a part of the Christian life. Accept it. Don't let the outside hardships change how you react. Jesus Christ went all the way to the cross. Why did he do that? Why was God's plan that he go through that kind of suffering? I submit that Christ's mission on earth was first to save humankind, and second, to be our example. Jesus exemplified grace under unmerited brutality and wrongful punishment. Yet, he cried out "Father forgive them for they don't know what they're doing" (Luke 23:24).

So, don't worry about getting what you think is due to you on this earth. You're going to get disappointed and disrespected. You're going to be misunderstood. Rejoice in the Lord anyway. You're treasure is sure. You are going to be rewarded for eternity, because of faithfulness, not because of someone else's recommendation. Live a life grace no matter what happens. Don't let the devil have an inch of you by giving in when it gets tough. Let the Lord have the glory as you remain firm in Him!
