21 Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you. 22 All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household.
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
Paul's letter to the Philippians comes to an end with his greetings to them. The part of this greeting that stands out is when he brings greetings from "those of Caesar’s household." The mention of Caesar’s household wasn't necessarily speaking of Caesar’s kin, but of the entire network of leaders and administrators who served the Roman Empire's interests nearby and all over the world. The significance is that the gospel had spread so fast and so widely that you can see the birth of what would, about 300 years later, become the religion of the entire empire.
I celebrate and am in awe of the power of God. His power used those in hardship to be messengers and the Holy Spirit did the work of convicting and convincing hearts of their desperate need for redemption through Jesus Christ. The oppression was beginning to be won over one heart at a time.
Never underestimate what God can do and is doing when we work and live in obedience to Him. One song that Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir sang years ago is "He's Been Faithful". The words ring out: "What I thought was impossible I've seen my God do." Never give up and always depend on the Holy Spirit's work that is beyond our ability and comprehension. He is working it out and uses our obedience in the process. It's a privilege to be part of His work.
Have you given up on believing your friends, family, and coworkers will be delivered by Christ?
Pray that God will give you and His church a fresh wind of believing in His ability to use us in the process of His work that is drawing all to Himself.
